Bazi Bridge is located at the east end of the Bazi Bridge Straight Street in Shaoxing City, between Guangning Bridge and Dongshuang Bridge. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit. The bridge was first built in the Southern Song Dynasty Jiatai Period (1201-1204), reconstructed in Baoyou four years (1256), rebuilt in Qing Dynasty(1783). The bridge is constructed of stone; it is built at the confluence of three rivers, connected with three roads. The structure is great and convenient for transportation. It is known as the “ancient overpass”. Bazi Bridge is the oldest existing urban bridge in China.

 

Bazi Bridge is one of the most famous ancient bridges in Shaoxing; this bridge also shows the characteristics and charm of this beautiful city. There are some old houses near the bridge; there are people still living in these houses with white walls and black tiles.
